(1) Validation of a process for a product already in distribution based upon accumulated production, testing and control data.
(2) Retrospective validation can also be useful to augment initial premarket prospective validation for new products or changed processes. Test data is useful only if the methods and results are adequately specific. Whenever test data are used to demonstrate conformance to specifications, it is important that the test methodology be qualified to assure that the test results are objective and accurate.

(2)회고적 밸리데이션은 새로운 제품이나 변경된 공정을 위한 initial premarket prospective validation을 증대하기 위해 사용될수 있다. 만약 시험법 및 그 결과가 제품 특성에 맞다면 테스트 데이터는 사용 할 수 있다. 테스트 데이터가 명세서와 일치 한다는 것을 증명 할 때 중요한 것은 테스트 결과가 객관적이고 정확 하다는 것을 증명하기 위한 테스트 방법론은 제한된다는 것이다.
